Snoop DoggThe line-up for Germany’s Live Earth event has been announced. Set to hit the Hamburg stage on July 7 are Chris Cornell, Silbermond, Jay Delay, Juli, Snoop Dogg, Katie Melua, Mana, Michael Mittermeier, Reamonn, Roger Cicero and Sasha.

The Germany showdown will take place at HSH Nordbank Arena and will feature Olympic figure skating champ Katarina Witt as a speaker at the event.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. CEST. Tickets can be purchased through Eventim at: http://www.eventim.de/eve/liveearth or by phone at 01805 / 570 000 (0,14 EUR/Min). General Admission ticket prices are 55EUR, 50EUR and 45EUR, which include all fees and public transportation.

Former LED ZEPPELIN star ROBERT PLANT has signed on to headline the Romanian leg of July’s (07) Live Earth supergig. The rocker will perform in Bucharest as part of the summer series of global concerts, which are being staged to highlight global warming. (source)

Organizers today announced that the City of Istanbul will host an official Live Earth concert event on July 7, 2007. Live Earth is the 24-hour, 7-continent concert series to combat global warming. Istanbul joins London, New York, Sydney, Shanghai, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro and Hamburg as official Live Earth host cities.

Live Earth Istanbul will be broadcasted on local television and as part of a global feed to as many as 120 television channels worldwide. Live Earth Istanbul will feature both international and local Turkish acts on 7/7/07. Additional concert details will be announced at a later date.

American pop star Madonna has recorded an original song for the global environmental and musical event known as Live Earth called, “Hey You”.

The single will not be released on a commercial scale to radio or television airwaves but will instead be made available for online purchasing with proceeds helping to fund Live Earth.
